Fancy That...

If I had to dress for my profession some would suggest I just stick to yoga pants and the appropriate sweat shirt or work out top. I would be allowed to throw in a pair of jeans for those special occasions. That is what is expected when you are at home...the other side of the coin is hopefully this outfit.

Every Girl Needs A Coat

Fur is a sensitive subject, to some individuals (and organizations) it is very black and white. Very few things in life are black and white. I am not going to discuss fur and the ethics associated with it. That is for a different blog.

I am going to say that I just love this coat. I've had it for at least 11 years and it sill turns heads and inspires women to find that one show stopping coat for those special occasions in their life. For me fur is all about the "trimmings", adding that extra detail that makes the ordinary extraordinary.

The collar and cuffs are removable. I have never used the collar for anything but this coat, however, I will be removing it and seeing what else I can come up with. This is another Style Panel Challenge. To see what other bloggers are wearing please click here.

Some of you may know that on Friday I was on the Marilyn Denis Show, I participated in "Real Women Model Search" and was selected to be in their Top 10. From there I made it to the Top 6 and will be on the show periodically. I will be posting about this experience this week. Why not today? I have a very sick 3 year old who needs me. That's a perfect Real Women story...modelling on national television on Friday and being vomited on by Saturday. It doesn't get any more real then that!

Layers

One of my favourite things about winter is layering - adding colour and texture to an outfit makes up for the dreariness or cold of winter.

When layering a dress and shirt just watch out for bunching and extra bulk around the mid-section. Plus the dress riding up and showing all your best parts. ;)

With that being said have a great weekend!

Cozy Up

With cold weather upon us (again) I'm back in sweater gear and enjoying chunky knits. I love the texture and dimension they bring to an outfit.

This is my first Style Panel Challenge for Fashion Magazine. Check out how other bloggers are wearing knits and keeping warm and fashionable here.

Back to Life Back to Reality

With 2013 in full swing, kids back to their routine, father back in Windsor, getting my ticket kicked I am ready to blog again. Since its been a while I'm taking it slow...

Cashmere and flannel with boyfriend jeans is today's outfit. The weather in Toronto has been erratic. Its been very mild and rainy. The kids were happy to see their grand parents, aunt and uncle over the weekend. Lots of soccer games and football games were watched and now hockey is going to be added to the mix. I better get used to this, three boys and a slightly more mature husband means my house is a sports zone.

Hope everyone had a great weekend, here's to Monday!

Guest Post - Nathy from Earnestyle

Hello everyone...long time no post. I am still a bit busy and won't be able to post anything new till next week. I haven't been able to properly visit all the wonderful blogs out there (Sorry Sheree, Susan, Jenny, Kristina, Avril, Beth, Sue, the rest of my favourite UK bloggers). However, the great thing about bloggers is they are always willing to help a girl out. Without further adieu here is Nathy, she will explain everything...

Hi everyone! I'm Nathalie, loyal One Chic mom follower and lucky winner of Iva's Yoga Jeans giveaway from November.

I'm a full-time graduate student who was born and raised (and still lives in) beautiful Miami. In this little virtual space of mine called Earnestyle, a few things will be obvious from the get-go. For example, my blog definitely reflects my city's love of color. I enjoy wearing bold colors, especially corals and blues. I also tend to favor classic, feminine styles, but I love incorporating trends into my wardrobe as well.

This is what I wore on New Year's Eve.

I was so thrilled to win the Yoga Jeans giveaway, my first giveaway win ever! As you may recall from Iva's posts, Yoga Jeans are made by the Second Denim Co., and they're made to fit your body like a second skin. There were so many great options to choose from, but I ended up choosing "Yoga 98", their high rise straight colored jeans, in Merlot.

I'm so happy with the way these jeans fit. They really do hug your body and stay in place as you walk, sit, cross your legs, whatever. I bet if I did yoga, I'd have no problem wearing these. But I don't do yoga. Or workout, ever. Probably why I need high-rise jeans to begin with. But that's another story.

The only drawback that comes with these jeans is actually a good thing for other people: they are very, very long. I'm only 5'1", so I had to get them hemmed. But they weren't hemmed right. So I had to awkwardly tuck them in. Overall, I'm very happy with these jeans, and will be getting another pair soon.

Please ignore the awkward tucking in of the pants and focus on Modcloth's fabulous "Sparkle an Interest" heels.
