Working Girls Wednesdays

When my little guy has a great nap I go through my closet and figure out what to wear and post on this blog, sometimes the outfits work and sometimes they don't. I try and keep key pieces (same top different bottoms or vice versa) consistent that way I know how versatile the articles of clothing are and it's just easier to take pictures. That's what happened today with the J Crew anchor top, I wanted to see if I could do more than a casual outfit with red jeans and paired it with a pencil skirt - J Crew Hot (Neon?) pink. I decided to be bold. I like it.

This blouse is boxy and needs to be tucked it, better shape, leaving it untucked looks like I'm hiding pregnancy number 5...THERE IS NO PREGNANCY NUMBER 5. Just so we are clear.

Canada day is Monday, enjoy the long weekend for my Canadian readers!

Mint Musings

I just love these jeans and this is my favourite blouse right now, together they are perfect. When I last wore these jeans (click here) I accessorized pretty similarly because that's what we do in the real world. We use what works and switch it a bit (or not at all because we will be seeing a totally different set of friends this evening). Why would it be any differently on this blog?

Denim Tunic

To be completely honest I really would love to buy a Tory Burch tunic, they are my favourite, one day...the first time I wore this tunic (styled exactly the same way) my mother and sister thought it was Tory's. I wish, no this is Joe Fresh at it's best.

Anchors Away - J Crew Anchor Top

TGIF - except for the fact that my two oldest boys are sick and missing school. I'm hoping the weekend   helps with their recovery.

I purchased this top at J Crew in NYC a couple of weeks ago and love the anchor print. Navy and white is so versatile so I just paired it with red denim and I am good to go...helping my boys recover from their colds.

Hoping you all have a great weekend!

I love the anchor buttons as well, nice touch.

Diamond Gala Celebrates 60 Glamorous Years of The National Ballet of Canada @The Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts

Diamond Gala Celebrates 60 Glamorous Years of The National Ballet of Canada @The Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts

While at last nights party my husband and I were photographed by blogger "Fashion Ecstasy". Her pictures really set the tone for last nights function. My husband and I at least have one photo together.

More fashion tomorrow.

Diamond Gala

Has anyone bought a fancy dress (it really could be any article of clothing, jewelry or pair of shoes) they loved but had no where to wear it to and then proceeded to make up places in their head just to justify that purchase? I did this ten years ago, I was dress shopping for my bridesmaids and found the most fabulous black satin fishtail dress that fit me like a glove. I justified it by saying I would wear it to my cousins wedding (pregnant with my second child),  New Years Party (they all got more casual), or some REALLY fancy party in the future. Well I had to wait for the future, 10 YEARS in the future. That's right, I waited 10 years to wear this dress for the first time.

I had the honour of attending the National Ballet of Canada Diamond Gala last night and I had something in my closet to wear! I had my hair done (thanks G from Cattiva Salon), my nails freshly polished and my make up done as well (beautiful job J from Bobbi Brown Sherway Gardens). I received lots of stares walking around Sherway with that much make up on at 3:30 pm on a Wednesday.

The great thing about a dress that is well made and has a classic shape is that you really can keep it in your closet for 10 years and wear it one evening and it still looks beautiful.

I borrowed some beautiful costume jewelry that I put on right before the event. If the pieces of jewelry were real I would have needed an armoured guard escort me around the event. Sorry I forgot to take pictures of the jewelry.

Above are some Instagram shots of the evening. The ballet pieces (there was a performance) were beautiful and I had a wonderful time.

Working Girl Wednesdays - Cheesy Titles Galore

Easy work outfit(s). I told you that I bought a blouse from Joe Fresh in three different colours, I'm featuring that blouse again in two colours - ivory and blush. This time I've paired it with black ankle pants and basic pumps. Easy for work and easy for play...

What I was going to Wear...

I was planning to meet up with fellow MumNet & MumVet leaders from the west end of Toronto (MumNet is an amazing organization that is located across the city of Toronto and I've attached a link in case anyone is interested), my daughter was ill and I stayed home with her and just comforted her.

This is what I was supposed to wear...

I find in summer I always need a blazer or sweater because most establishments have the air conditioning turned on High all the time.

Mundane Mondays - Nautical Ease

The Mundane is back and it's always easy, because its Monday and I have a sick child at home with me.

Blue and white is easy summer dressing. I know some will see the white jeans and think "four kids and white what a disaster!!". Sometimes it is, but I like to wear them so I don't mind. I am always doing laundry so one more pair of jeans is not going to make a difference for me. If I know we are having pasta or pizza I will dress accordingly but I don't let having kids stop me from wearing my favourite articles of clothing. Anyone else agree?

My life has been taken over by soccer (football for all those outside Canada and the U.S.), so I'm praying that my Croatian team (AJMO VATRENI) makes it to the next round, they play today and I am already nervous and nauseous.

I love seeing a sea of checkers!

Hoping your week is off to a great start (we'll see how I am after the game)!

Mint Denim

I FOUND THEM!!! So excited enough writing and reading, here are the pictures...

It took me a while to find these mint jeans and I had lots of help - thanks Ana, Rosie, Didi and Suzana - for all your suggestions. Ended up finding these at Sherway Gardens, I just couldn't venture out of my comfort zone.

The outfit was actually inspired by Didi, she was wearing mint and lace so I copied her. I hope you approve.

For all my ladies who are saying they can't do this trend, if you enjoy it, go up a size or even two in the pastels. They are not forgiving but once you get the right size they do look amazing. These jeans are a mid-rise with four way stretch, the mid-rise was key for me. Plus for all my tall girls the inseam is 35 inches! I can wear them as pants not capris!

Gold is the way to go with this soft palate, its warm against the ivory lace and mint denim.

I take most of the pictures on my driveway with my son helping me, us women are great at multi-tasking.

These shoes are as old as dirt (sorry Jane) and I love wearing them. With the pastel trend I love nude shoes, black I find too harsh. Pastel shoes would be fun and just kick it up a notch.

If anyone has any questions or post suggestions please feel free to comment here or get in touch with me on Facebook. For the reader who asked about other working girl outfits I will post more over the coming weeks. "Ask and you shall receive"

Thanks for all the kind words about my blog, especially Scott and Sanka!

Blue & Green - Again

I can't help it when I like something, I just like it to death...proof here and here and now again with this post. I can't be the only one...right?

I originally wore this outfit without a belt and then when I saw the pictures I promptly went indoors and added one. The top picture looks sloppy and the bottom one polished. I really needed Rosie to help me out!!
